Preparing for the Atlantic again. Engine overhaul, steering delrin ball exchange, new ssb-radio antenna, laundry.. Still 6 days to finish all projects. This time the crew will be British, French and Finnish, and Norwegian. As if were sailing the Kontiki. But we are heading for the Azores, not Polynesia.
Ellie is out, but she has allowed me to continue this blog until 'Kristine' has found her way back home.

Oh right, there's the blog...
Island time, beach time, manana-land... it has many names.
What time is it?
What day is it?
What month is it?
What country are we in?
I can't say for sure. And I definitely can't tell wether I'll have internet in a month or not. But what does it matter? People smile, we're in paradise and we have good health.
The internet here is definitely not good enough to upload any photos, but I promise I'll come back with a good collection in a few weeks.
The Caribbean for us so far has been cruising Martinique - Dominica - The Saintes - Guadeloupe - Antigua - St. Kitts - St. Maarten. Rainforest adventures, hot springs, snorkeling, local food, pirate-movies, anchor-fun, novels, sunburns, local transport and hitch-hiking... We're soon heading for the Virgin Islands and then Puerto Rico.
That will have to do it for now. Time to celebrate the last night with my brother and sis, before they fly home to Norway. Thanks for the patience. (As mentioned earlier - life is too good to blog right now)

Land in the horizon! Though not as relieving as the first time, it's still pretty cool to enter a new country every other day. (Maybe not for dad with all the clearance work...)
We've had some wonderful days at anchor, first in St. Pierre, Martinique and then in Roseau, Dominica. In addition to great amounts of snorkeling and mandatory pirate research (Pirates of the Caribbean movies), we had a little jungle excursion on land. Bathing in hot sulphur Springs with "healing properties", extreme mountain climbing and swimming beneath a great waterfall - quite extraordinary! My hair still smells of sulphur, though...
Now we're bound for The Saintes, south of Guadeloupe. We're promised turtles and glittering gold, so I can't wait to get there!

Holidays in Martinique
Christmas has been full of action.
Change of crew, soltitude, dengue fever anxiousness, mast climbing, surprise New Years Party, volcano climbing, drone hunting, snorkeling, farewells and welcomes.
Christmas eve was celebrated the traditional norwegian way with lamb ribs, chocolate pudding, cookies and gifts. We even joined with the other half of the family on Skype! My wonderful improvised christmas tree is pictured below. On Christmas Day we joined Strangetrader's wonderful BBQ party. (They're Aussies.) Then I was left for soltitude and shortly after I got a fever. The next days was panicly spent googling Dengue Fever and studying Aedes mosquitoes in detail. I had to decline Gavroche's New Year Beach Party invite (I'm so sorry!) and was prepared to celebrate New Years with Paracetamol and Wikipedia.
I joined a New Years party on Skype when it was mid-day over here. Then, ten to midnight I decided to climb the mast to get a better view of the fireworks, and luckily my new neighbors felt bad for me and invited me over. They turned out to be a crazy Austrian family (also from the Odyssey!) in the boat Cure the Blues. The first day of 2015 was spent in a too small car heading for Mount Pelé - the volcano. We had a sight range of approximately ten meters, but it was a wonderful though rainy climb and we're not entirely sure if we made it to the top or not. I might also have been the first person to ever climb the mountain in beach clothes. (A crazy Austrian family would of course be prepared for a real mountain hike.) Sunset was enjoyed at a wonderful beach with the family's drone and a million local kids in euphoria.
A few days ago my brother and big sis arrived from an exhausting and utterly exciting travel from Norway, unintentionally island hopping before they arrived at the marina. Now we're getting the boat ship shaped, heading for anchor as soon as possible! Our plan is to go to St. Pierre and from there head north to Dominica, The Saintes, Guadelope and so on. I'll keep you updated with the sat phone when we're not at shore, and in the meantime I wish you all a happy new year!

Anchor liife #1
I would've given you all the pictures at once, if I had more hours with the internet.
I'll give you the next bunch sometime soon!
It was amazing to get out of the marina and anchor for a few days. Imagine waking up, putting on a bathing suit and jump directly into picture perfect blue water, having nothing at all to do the rest of the day! Every day we snorkeled to check on the anchor, and thus I've had my share of salt water in the lungs...gotta practice that snorkeling.
We had a wonderful picnic with Andrea from Strangetrader before we went back "home" to the marina today, and now I'm enjoying the cozy christmas feel we managed to bring into the boat. Dad put the traditional, norwegian christmas lamb in water while I made an improvised christmas tree of kettles and clothes. With christmas music on the speakers we've enjoyed a long evening of doing nothing - just as it should be.
Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of Jesus (which in Norway appears to be the 24th for some reason) with our meal and humble gifts. All (no, most of) my thoughts go to my family at home and where we should've been together for the holidays. May the snow be as cozy without us!
It's so wonderful to talk to all my friends at home, and so funny to see how I want to take their place and they want to take mine. I guess it's time to stop dreaming of snow and get out in the sun!
Merry Christmas to all you lovely people out there. Remember to enjoy it right where you are and love the people around you.

Anchorage ahead!
The warmth in this place is so overwhelming that my little norse mind has severe problems with writing. Let that be an excuse.
Now we're heading out for a little anchorage near St. Anne, Martinique, and will stay there for a few days with some boat friends of ours. Will be good to finally jump in the water from the boat and feel the calmness of an anchorage.
We will come back to celebrate christmas (24th for us) in the marina, and around the 6th of January we will head north for the Virgin Islands and Bahamas! Can I wait? No I can't!
Life here is slow, wonderful, full of music and always jolly. The myths of the caribbean are absolutely true. Today we'll enjoy local beef and a Pirates of the Caribbean movie night!
